Mill City church fixes deteriorating building

Community helps raise $325,000 of $400,000 needed to complete repairs.

Members of Saint Catherine of Siena Mission Church in Mill City gathered for Mass Saturday evening in their newly renovated church.

It has been nearly a year since work began to straighten, strengthen and repair the 97-year-old church that sits on a hill overlooking the city.

Church member Lynda Harrington said she remembers before the project began some of the congregation questioned the need for repairs. But when the church had an engineering study done to assess its condition, the answer was clear.

“The study that was done said the church was possibly one wind storm or geological occurrence away from collapsing,” Harrington said.

The movie concluded with the band breaking up, leaving one hit as their only legacy. Although this isn’t the planned business model of Stayton jazz band Cool Conspiracy, they do use the movie as a source of inspiration and endless quotes used frequently in fun.

We have three birthdays around the beginning of May – Alice, Kris and Patti. My daughter and daughter-in-law were also born in May. It’s also time for Mother’s Day and graduations; a good time to give a book.
