MAY
Held in early May, the annual Silverton Hospital Fun Run is something
for the whole family. One-mile and five-kilometer runs and walks. Silverton

Mid-May to mid-June when the irises are at their peak. The festival allows
irises to be admired in display gardens at well as in an indoor cut-flower

Held annually the second weekend in May at the South Lodge of Silver Falls

May 18, 2002
A long-running Silverton tradition, the Pet Parade was started as a way
for kids to get out and have fun after the Great Depression. Young and
old parade through town on a Saturday with everything from ladybugs to

May 25, 2002
This May track-and-field event has been a part of Silverton for 17 years.
It is open to anyone over 40, the Oregon Senior Olympics encourages health

JUNE
June 1-2, 2002
A two-day bicycling event the first weekend in June providing riders of
all levels an opportunity to compete over the weekend. A road race to
Silver Creek Falls on Saturday is followed by the criterium on Sunday.

Held on a morning in early June, this joint venture of Silverton Together,
the Izaak Walton League and the City of Silverton gives everybody a chance
to try a rod and reel up at the Silverton Reservoir. Silverton Together,

Al Faussett's 1928 plunge over 177-foot South Falls in a canvas canoe
is commemorated each year at Silver Falls State Park. Present-day Faussett
family members converge at the falls Father's Day weekend along with hundreds
of visitors who are treated to a newsreel of the actual event. Silver

Coolidge-McClaine Park in Silverton is the scene for this Father's Day
feast of delicious, fresh local strawberries with shortcake. Local musical
acts entertain amidst the tall trees. A family tradition spanning generations.

JULY
July 13, 2002
Enjoy a self-guided tour of some of Silverton's finest residential gardens
and landscapes. Tour a variety of styles in gardens, both large and small,

The Teufel Amphitheater is the place to be at The Oregon Garden for a
series of outdoor summer concerts. Performers range from country to symphonic,

AUGUST
August 2-4, 2002
The first Friday in August kicks off the annual three-day celebration
of Silverton's favorite son, Homer Davenport. Events range from an international
cartoon contest and an art show to a parade to a doubles tennis tournament.

Good, old-time fun including square dancing and a bike-coasting contest
on the hill leading into downtown. An evening street dance is a great
